Holograph manuscript draft of libretto in bound notebook with initialed typescript note: "The Unpossessed Garden was written in 1954 as a tentative libretto for an oratorio." Includes autograph note to Alan Clodd: "The composer for whom I wrote this work was RIchard Arnell. There were certain developments which made the collaboration impossible." Accompanied by a signed autograph letter, dated August 5, 1972, from Manning to Alan Clodd.
